Chewies hair do

So it's about time I started the head fur...

Firstly I had to make a mesh cap and back hood. This fur would be latched on, angled as such to follow the curve of the head.

This was then fitted and trimmed. The back of the hood comes as low as the lowest curve on the jaw.

Ran red Wook through creating curved contour patterns to follow with the hair. These worked brilliantly as I would've latched off in a constant (and wrong) direction!

The fur is starting to make the head come alive!!

Another night of this to go!

Furring the feet

So I've finished he foot socks... I have made mesh socks and have coated them in fur.

These were then attached to the stilts and trimmed around the bottom to reveal the toes. There is some more work needed and hair thinning to complete.

With a little bit of a trim…

And the other one also…

Just waiting for my thinning shears to turn up so I can finish them now!

Update : the shears arrived!! This is how they look now. Feathered the trimming so that there are no sharp cut ends

Wookiee rhinoplasty

The mask is so heavy, and it sits ok the bridge of my nose! I thought it was a bout time to do something about that.

So I got the Draemel tool out and craft knife and started to cut a hole in the nose area. There is thick silicon on the other side where the nose is.

Firstly though I want to trim down the eyesockets.

I then cut a hole in the nose area so that my nose will sit in the gap.

Here's what came out..

Now the mask sits on my face better without all the weight being on the bridge of my nose.

Because I trimmed the eyesockets down they no longer rub on my eyebrow!!

Detailing and finishing toes

Well that was a hard slog.. But I think I'm done with them. Yes I think I am. Well I kind of am..

The toenails are now glued on using E6000 (doesn't really adhere to silicone) and cemented with superglue for extra strength. Next time I'll find a better way of attaching em..

Cut some Nails out..

Marked them out size wise and numbered them

Melted them gently with heat gun. Bent them into shape..(this hurt.... ALOT)

Couple of layers of primer and a bar coat of shiny cream colour I mixed up

All glued on and weathering started..

Filthy nails job complete!!

Browning the toes!

Time to make the feet a bit better!

I decided that I would paint the feet brown in line with the films.. As I'm going for the original look Chewbacca.

I mixed silicon with white spirit to create a paint. I then painted on into layers to create a brown skin.

The toes are yet to come. This is after the first layer of brown.

ha ha it looks like I trod in something.

The next day I added another layer of brown.

Attaching the helmet..

Helmet test...

Added a skater helmet to my mask to give support and shape.

Here's how it is as a mock up...

Then I attached with 3 screws that enable me to choose where to fix it

And then cut the padding

Put it all back together...

This is my stilt 'sock' that I draped over to test the look!

New gloves

New gloves will be these bad boys... Thicker and have more room for electrics..
